Get Qoin

Qoin is mined on phones, and only while the phone hears a tone. Install Graysons Wallet, play a tone nearby, and your phone starts mining.

Mine with a tone

Frostoise, the miner that comes with Graysons Wallet, only works while your phone hears one of these tones. The tone sets how hard the phone works. Every block pays the same.

Pick a tone
One second of the 7.83 Hz pulse: the sound swells and fades 7.83 times.

Play it out loud from a laptop, a speaker or another phone, with the mining phone close by. Open Frostoise, allow the microphone and wait for LOCKED. Headphones won't work, because the phone has to hear it.

How to start

  1. Install Graysons Wallet.One install adds three apps: Graysons Wallet, Frostoise and MyFrost.
  2. Create a wallet.Tap Create wallet and write down your 25 words. They're the only way back into your coins, so keep them offline and never share them. Coming from 0.3? Uninstall it first. 0.4 is a new chain, so everyone starts with a new wallet.
  3. Mine.Open Frostoise, play a tone and tap Start mining. Phones on the same Wi-Fi find each other. To reach everyone else, add a public node from the project discussions. Mined coins unlock after 12 blocks, about an hour.
  4. Claim your name.Pick a .frostchain name, so people can pay you as @you instead of a long address.

Blocks
One every 5 minutes, so two Frost blocks for every Bitcoin Cash block.
Reward
About 263.88 QOIN a block at launch, shrinking slowly as coins are mined.
Unlock
Mined coins can be spent after 12 more blocks.
Mining tones
3.75–4.25, 7.50–8.20 or 10.80–11.40 Hz. Every block carries a record of the reading.
Signatures
Hash-based LMS keys (RFC 8554), built to hold up against quantum computers.
Units
QOIN, divisible to 11 decimal places.

Qoin is an early proof of concept I'm building myself. QOIN has no guaranteed value and isn't an investment. Only buy some if you'd enjoy trying a homemade blockchain, and only spend what you're fine losing. The tones are for mining. They aren't health or wellness advice.
